Bake and Take
I love baking bread and have used a variety of containers over the years for presentation – small brown paper bags, tiny flower pots & recycled soup tins. But, by far my most fav is the mason jar which can be used for a ton of baked goodies and make transport much easier.
Prepare desired bread recipe & allow to rise for 1½ hrs. Lubricate jars with olive oil, dust with cornmeal & place on cookie sheet. Turn dough onto floured surface, punch down & divide into pieces. Shape dough into balls & place in prepared jars. Cover & rise 1 hour. Brush the tops with whisked egg white & snip tops with scissors. Place rosemary sprig in center of snip & sprinkle with sea salt. Bake 22 minutes @ 400F, remove & cool.
Pump & Circumstance
Bore a hole through the lid of a mason jar and insert a repurposed pump to create your own soap dispenser. Secure in place with silicone.

Remove the liner of a mason lid and replace with 1/2″ stucco mesh to keep blooms upright.

Convert a ordinary mason jar into a bright light with a lamp kit. Be sure to drill several small holes in the lid for heat to escape and use CFL bulbs.

Blue by You
Make your own blue mason jars with glass paint and glaze. The vintage blue varieties are difficult to come by and cost a small fortune when you find them. 
Mix glaze and glass paint and coat inside of clear jar. Bake according to package instructions to set.

Handy dandy match kit holds matches while sporting a strike lid made from sandpaper. Simply glue sandpaper onto inner lid and place on top.

Expel the Smell
If leftovers stored in your mason jars have turned into a science experiment gone bad in the back of the fridge, use the following formula to rid all odors. Simply mix 1 tsp dry mustard with 1 qt warm water and place in jar for several hours. Rinse.
Perfect Fit
Cheese shaker and salt lids are the perfect fit for mason jars. Cut top off empty cardboard salt container, cut to size of a canning lid and use the canning ring to screw in place. Adding these repurposed tops will ease pouring, shaking and portioning.

I love the lettuce idea, new to me and a problem keeping fresh in modern refrigerators. Some of the other ideas are super as well. I bet I can use other jars for some of the ideas as well.
