Gnikki and I greened our thumbs at the 'Work of Heart' workshop with fellow DIY'ers as they created cone planters in the fab George Pegg Gardens. We were all treated to a gourmet lunch (served on real china) and everyone left with a one-of-a-kind hanging basket stuffed with colouful bedding plants (courtesy of the GPG). Thanks to Lorraine Taylor for organizing a great day.

On a visit to Tokay, Hungary my father and I had the pleasure of meeting a well-known local artist – Tibor Tenkacs (Tee-bore Ten-cash). The 86-year-old painter invited us to his home-cum-studio; a typical white-washed thatched-roof domicile surrounded by poppies, cornflowers and mile-high sunflowers. Tibor’s sun drenched studio lay at the back of the house, a [...]

I did a bit of window dressing in the BodoBoler with roman shades that were whip-stitched in one day for around $35.00. Creating the blinds yourself is a fab way to customize your window treatments and save big bucks. Consider recycling existing fabric or jazz up a drape that is collecting dust in a forgotten closet.

We’ve all seen them. Window decals on buses, vehicles and store fronts that display an image on the outside while allowing light to penetrate through inside. This material is referred to as 50/50 Window-perf; a perforated self-adhesive vinyl available at digital print sign shops. Viewed from the inside, there's a slight shading effect that cuts glare and prevents interior furnishings from fading. From the outside the graphic appears to be a solid image. The material comes in 60” wide rolls but can be pieced together if a larger surface is being considered.
